Hermès International S.A. is a French high fashion luxury goods manufacturer established in 1837, today specializing in leather, lifestyle accessories, home furnishings, jewellery, watches and ready-to-wear. Its logo, since the 1950s, is of a Duc carriage with horse.

Hermès expanded its watch distribution by selling through 100-120 fine jewelry stores in the U.S., well above the current 50 stores. The expansion is fueled by new products and a factory in Bienne, Switzerland.

Hermès - known worldwide for its fine leather, silk scarves and haute couture clothing - first sold Hermès watches in the 1920s. It built a watch factory in Bienne in 1978 then replaced it with a larger one. There it makes nearly 140,000 Hermès watches annually, including all the leather straps. Watches now account for 10% of sales, fourth behind leather, silk and ready-to-wear.

The new emphasis on the U.S. market mirrors the companys plans globally. The companys first anadigital watch, called Espace, debuted at the Basel Fair and features the new ETA movement previously used only by the Omega X-33.

This high-tech movement may be surprising from Hermès, but the design is classic, and we are a full-line watch firm.
At Basel, the company also showed  a new full line of automatic watches, including chronographs, and debuted the Belt Watch, a womens model with easy-to-change leather straps.
